Getting Sam Home Again

After falling in love with the feature-length 1983 Last of the Summer Wine special, 'Getting Sam Home', the Summer Winos decided to spend a glorious May afternoon in Holmfirth tracking down some of the episode’s more notable locations. Thanks to all at Sid’s Cafe and the Shoulder of Mutton pub for allowing us to film there, and to our regular, long-suffering cameraman Andrew Orton! He’s rapidly becoming our ‘third man’…

SECRET ORIGINS

The 29th of August 2020 marked ten years since the broadcast of the final episode of Last of the Summer Wine and as such it also marked the tenth anniversary of the first inklings of the Summer Winos project. Following the idle musings captured in this video, we have gone on to set up a blog, write hundreds of thousands of words about the series, gather together a little community of like-minded fans, produce several silly location videos, bring Jonathan "Crusher" Linsley back to Holmfirth, stage an Edinburgh Fringe show about our love of the series and take that same show on tour around the UK... it's been an odd decade and a bit...
